Birding - Bibiclodge, a place for birdwatching
After 10 years, I had an opportunity to revisit this project, one of my favourite designs.
The site is next to the natural conservation area, the water surface of Hortobágy is a vast, flat expanse of natural grasslands and different wetlands. The harsh, saline conditions created a unique habitat with a special flora and fauna. It is undoubtedly one of the top nature reserves in Europe.
However, the most apparent inhabitants are birds with well over 300 species on record.
The lodge has an experimental construction, wood, earth and strawbale construction, and lots of reused brick surfaces, financial aid from the EU.
The passive solar layout has a photovoltaic system for the appliances and hot water, and the wastewater system is biologically treated and used on the site.
